PRESS RELEASE – The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers impersonating law enforcement officers.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, several citizens have reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to represent the department. The callers allegedly inform victims of an “active warrant” and demand payment to avoid arrest.
Officials emphasize that the Sheriff’s Office will never contact individuals by phone to discuss warrants or request payment for fines. Any such call is fraudulent.
Residents are urged not to provide personal information or payment if they receive one of these calls.
The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone targeted by this scam to report the incident immediately to local law enforcement.
